How to manage your passwords securely

In this digital era an average internet user has a lot of passwords. Personally I am not able to make up unique passwords for all my accounts on different websites. Therefore I created an Excel sheet where I stored all my account information. Not very secure. If someone has a short look on it, it can take over my digital life. In order to be less afraid when my computer gets hacked or stolen, i looked for a more secure (and offcourse free) way to manage username and password for different purposes. I found KeePass Password Safe.

Keepass is easy to use, secure, free, (open source even) and leaves no garbage in the Windows registry. That last feature makes it possible to run from an USB stick. No installation is required and you always have your passwords with you. Go get it!!!

  1. I liked KeePass, it allowed me to stop reusing passwords and start using randomly generated passwords.

    But I wanted more 🙂

I got tired of pasting passwords manually into websites; I wanted to access my passwords from within the browser and have the passwords automatically entered for me.

Give RoboForm for windows or 1Passwd for mac os x a try. Neither are free, but the convenience and phishing protection are worth it.
