The best video player

Media Player ClassicI’ve been looking for years to find the best (perfect?) videoplayer. I want to play all kinds of video formats (mpeg, divx, xvid, avi) with one good player. It’s taken years because I have some demands. But I found it!

Media Player Classic. This player is my favorite from now on. I finally found a player that is free, easy to use, has good subtitle and audio offset correction support and so on. Are you still in doubt? Give Media Player Classic a try!

I want the following features:

  • Good subtitle support
  • Audio offset (delay) correction
  • Always on top functionality
  • Buttons and bar can dissapear
  • Easy to use
  • It must be free

I found out that a lot of free video players exist. And they are not bad. I didn’t name the possibility to use all kinds of codecs, because most of the players have it. The most popular video player is the Windows Media Player. It’s the most popular one because it’s standard on a windows machine and it works. It’s subtitle support is crappy however, and I couldn’t find support of audio offset correction. Other common used players are:

Alshow, which is a nice player, but it doesn’t support the commonly used .srt subtitle format and it doesn’t support audio offset.

Mplayer, which should be able to do everything, but isn’t easy to use. And I couldn’t find an easy and complete GUI.

BSpLayer, which is free, but I couldn’t find audio offset support and the most recent version comes with spyware.

Videolan, which does support audio offset correction, ánd subtitles was a good competitor (check out their wiki!). But it wasn’t as easy to use as:

Media Player Classic. This player is my favorite from now on. I finally found a player that is free, easy to use, has good subtitle and audio offset correction support and so on. Are you still in doubt? Give Media Player Classic a try!
