Finally a Dutch movie on World War 2 where with a little nuance in the German characters. This movie by Paul Verhoeven is not about fighting the Dutch fighting the Germans. That’s only the context in which a story is situated about people in a war situation. Carice van Houten and Sebastian Koch play a great role as Rachel Steinn and Ludwig Müntze. Besides them the playing is extraordinary good for a Dutch movie. The only shame is that there are some locally well-known actors put in the movie who are known, but aren’t great actors.
I’ve got only one thing left to say about Zwartboek (Black Book). Go see this movie! I give it an 8.
